it’s almost swimsuit season; I don’t know a season the majority of women hate more! Not only do we have to worry about finding the perfect bathing suit; we have to deal with the inevitable trauma that comes with trying on countless suits until we do!
If you’re one of the lucky few women who aren’t bothered by swimsuit shopping, I salute you – and I want to know your secret!
Until then, I’ve come up with some hassle-free tips to help you find the right bathing suit for your body type. Believe it or not, there is a perfect suit out there for you somewhere! You just have to figure out which assets you want to show off.
For example, do you want to create the illusion of cleavage if you’re… well… lacking? Look for swimsuits that have shirred details, or simply find one with a little extra padding. Under-wire swimsuit tops work great, as well.
Alternatively, for larger-chested gals, you’ll need a swimsuit that offers great support, especially if you plan to be doing a lot of activity. Look for halter tops that tie both in the back and around the neck for maximum support and totally sexy cleavage… hey, if you’ve got it, why not flaunt it? You’ll also look great in a one-piece that offers a built-in bra for additional support.
To create the illusion of a longer torso, find a suit that’s cut high in the leg – it’ll make your silhouette appear much longer than it actually is. You’d also do well by investing in a one-piece suit that’s a solid color all over; with no distracting prints or patterns, the eye will create the appearance of a leaner body.
Self-conscious about your stomach, but love two pieces? Don’t fret – tankinis are the perfect choice for you. They offer the flexibility and feel of a two-piece but add a lot more coverage so you can rock the look of a bikini without baring it all.
While these are just a few ideas to help you find the right bathing suit, the ultimate rule of thumb I can give you would be to find a suit that you not only look good in but feel good in. You are the best judge of character when deciding whether you can rock a particular swimsuit, but it always helps to have a non-judgmental friend along to help you find the right bathing suit for your body type.
With summer just around the corner, you’d better get shopping!
